Motorbike mirrors are DOT approved and as cheap as bicycle mirrors.

Re: Mirror relocation nightmare......
Well, I solved the problem by buying a $6 generic replacement mirror and
attaching it to my roll bar where it meets the windshield frame with two Velcro straps. Although the particular mirror I bought is a tad smaller than I would like, at least I'm legal now. Thanks all! -- Dana "It's clearly a budget. It's got a lot of numbers in it." - G.W. Bush |

Re: Mirror relocation nightmare......
www.sunperformance.com however, call Bob Suplee for the best pricing on them.
Its 5 minutes to move the mirrors back and forth from the mount to the hard doors (or less if you dont drop any washers or springs). I dont find on the TJ that they bounce around or anything. With the hard doors on it is hard to see the passenger side - but unless they drive a TJ they probably dont know that. Its on the rig and that makes you legal. Re: Mirror relocation nightmare......
Here is a cheap and easy solution for an outside mirror.
http://www.jeepit.com/ has a bracket for about $13.00 (includes shipping) that fits into the top hinge after the door is removed. You can buy a $10.00 mirror at any auto supply store that will attach easily to the bracket. For about $25.00, you're in business. Works great. A lot simpler then replacing the hinges. Windshield / upper door hinges. CJ style mirrors mount to these. They are
a pain in the neck to replace, but you get bragging rights once you have done a set. ;o) Earle "TJim" <jim@ranlet.nospam.com> wrote in message news:MUmdnW7CLMzZJayiXTWJlg@comcast.com... > Replacing *what* hinges? > > <yobaby@wow.net> wrote in message > news:3f317736.10325812@news.bur.adelphia.net... > > Here is a cheap and easy solution for an outside mirror. > > http://www.jeepit.com/ has a bracket for about $13.00 (includes > > shipping) that fits into the top hinge after the door is removed. Re: Mirror relocation nightmare......
Oh, Jeez! I would *hate* to have to replace one of those, especially on an
older Jeep! Every post I have seen regarding hinge removal has been a desperate plea for help. If you want to use CJ style mirrors, drill and tap the hinges. It's easier. http://www.delawareja.com/gallery/albuo16/IMG_0146 TJim 98 TJ SE 90 SJ GW "Earle Horton" <enfermero_diabolico@registerednurses.com> wrote in message news:bgtksv$rrsg7$1@ID-147790.news.uni-berlin.de... > Windshield / upper door hinges.
