make TJ rear washer pump work when top is off
Is there a way to make the rear washer pump work when the hardtop is
off? I would assume there is a jumper in the electrical connection when it is connected to the hardtop, so what lines do I need to jump together? |
Re: make TJ rear washer pump work when top is off
The rear washer pump is on the hard top, AFAIK.

Haven't had a chance to look but I have read that both washer pumps
were on the tank under the hood. Is this not the case? By the way what is AFAIK? When you take the hard top off you disconnect the plug (which carries power to the rear defrost and wiper) and the are supposed to put a plug/stopper in the rubber tube that carries the washer fluid. Not sure if there is a ground of some sort that is connected by the plug to disable the rear pump when the plug is undone. Re: make TJ rear washer pump work when top is off
There is some type of ground or something in that plug becasue the pump
won't even come on with that plug undone. In the According to what I have on the 2003 TJ it's the ground for the pump motor. But it also shows the pump motor at the back. Pump motor powered by an 18GA Violet with Orange stripe and Grounded by an 18ga Black wire via a jumper in the hard top connector. (doesn't say which pins though) If you know which motor is for the rear spray, you could measure it with a volt meter, find the hot, then supply a temporary ground. That would prove how it's done. Then it's just a matter of measuring the connector at the back when someone pushes spray the wire should go hot. To make sure, disconnect the pump motor and try again. The wire should not go hot. hope that makes sense.. I'm drinking decaf. -- DougW |
