the windshield got narrower for '76 up: Side by side picture comparison

post '76 will fit the '65 that the original poster asked about.

Its a 1953 CJ5. If the windshield is the only problem then I might find a
complete windshield frame assembly as mine is missing all the wiper
hardware etc....though I do have a good frame and glass....the top with
doors has been offered to me for $200

Personally, I think the the post-'76 top will not fit your '53. If the
seller is even remotely near your home, you should either drive or trailer
your Jeep to his house, and buy the top only if it fits. There is a lot of
mix-n-match that takes place on a Jeep, and this one might work and it might
not. Does your '53 even have hinges for the doors? I think the door openings
are significantly different between '53 and '78. I could be wrong, but I
would not encourage you to buy this top unless you can determine if it fits
before you start writing the check.
