on some guy about how he couldn't have power windows in his Jeep TJ...blah blah... http://www.electric-life.com/preview/customfit.html I have to say considering the cost of my Jeep I was quite annoyed that I couldn't have power windows and door locks.. I'll be ordering both kits from this company considering how cheep they are.. |

Maybe A/C, a stereo with a CD player or cruise control? Do real Jeeps have those? Just because someone wants an option on their Wrangler doesn't make it wrong, does it? Don't get me wrong, I find the info you provide here to be very useful. I just don't quite see what power windows or locks would have to do with killing the Jeep name. Short of a Liberty or GC, I bet your Rubie has more creature comforts than almost every other type of Jeep out there. Things like the Liberty will have much more to do with "killing" the Jeep name than adding power windows or locks to a Wrangler. Give the guy a break. Chris |

I never purchased an image.. I sold my old '88 GM 3/4ton that I dropped a D60 SFA in the front, winch front and rear, lifted sitting on 44" 's with ARB's front and rear, 350, 5spd.. Because it became a troll to drive and really was a beast to take on any trails, but was great in mud.. So I purchased a new TJ.. I have since swapped out the front for a d44, tossed my old winch on it, lifted it 6" and slapped some 35's on it.. in a few weeks I'll be tossing a front and rear ARB on it as well.. I purchased a vehicle that had a shorter wheel base and would be more practicle on the trails I wish to use. How do you figure I purchased an image? So where the HELL do you get off with your assinine attitude bitching at me because I want power windows and power locks. Get off your soap box and stop giving Jeep enthusists a bad name. I can see your point here, to a degree. On the other hand, I think Jeep should offer some things they don't offer as well. None of them are creature comforts, but most of them are things that people add to their Jeeps when they off road anyway. I guess that's why we have the aftermarket, so that we can make the changes we want to our vehicle. No one says that everyone will like what he do/add to our vehicles, but if it is what we want, then who cares? Maybe his post came across the wrong way and he was trying to let people know that if they want those options they can add them. Your guess is as good as mine. > > > > I'm sure your > > Rubicon has creature comforts in it as well. Why is cruise control not considered a "yuppie" option and power windows and locks are? Don't get me wrong, I don't think either one is a necessity, or in my case even desirable, but if someone wants those options on a Wrangler, I hardly think it's going to ruin the Jeep name. > > Just because someone > > wants an option on their Wrangler doesn't make it wrong, does it? > > all this ---- is relative and based in opinion and in _my_ opinion (which is > what i base my posts on) whining about the lack of power windows in a swb > jeep is a yuppie wanna-be type of whine. you gotta draw the line somewhere, > and i have CONSISTENTLY drawn that line prior to anything that detracts from > what makes a jeep a jeep. > Like you said, it is an opinion. If DC is dumb enough to ruin the Wrangler by making said changes, then you're right, the Jeep won't be what it is/used to be. I haven't been into Jeeps very long, but even I know how loyal and dedicated the owners of real Jeeps are. Hopefully the yuppie SUV types will stick to the Liberty and they won't ruin the Wrangler by making it a Liberty with removeable doors. If they do then I guess we'll have to fix up the older ones. This is what I intend to do anyway. > > > > Give the guy a break. > > funny, i thought i _did_. > > <sigh>....maybe i take jeeping to seriously. I wouldn't say that. You have a love for Jeeps, just like anyone else who is really into something has a love for whatever they do or enjoy. I guess my point in all this is, this guy may just have been venting, or letting people know you can add those options to your vehicle yourself if you'd like. Jumping all over someone could potentially make someone say "screw this newsgroup" when in fact they may have a lot of good info, advice, multimedia, or whatever. Had someone jumped on my first post to a newsgroup like that, I would have said "screw these jerks". One other thing to remember, even though odds are against it, one of these people that we run off may be the person coming down the trail when we're stuck bad somewhere, or broke down, or whatever. I guess in summary, maybe this is the guy's first Jeep, and he doesn't know about the "Jeep thing", but IMO it would be better to kindly inform him. He might be just getting into it as I am.
