Jeep TJ Auto Torque Converter
I have a 97 TJ with the TF999 3 speed auto tranny. When I drive at between
40-50 mph, the torque converter seems to be locking and unlocking all the
time. My questions are: Is this normal? Is this going to shorten
transmission/torque converter life? Also, I would appreciate hearing from
anybody who has a TJ with the new 4 speed auto (in case I have to swap mine
out in the future).

What gears do you have?
What size tires do you have?
Is this happening on an incline or flat driving?

Re: Jeep TJ Auto Torque Converter
Oh yeah, when was the last time you serviced the tranny? and how many miles
between servicing?
Is it possible you might have gotten water in it? even condensation?

Re: Jeep TJ Auto Torque Converter
3.73 gears and 31" tires, fairly conservative.
It happens on flat road.
