intake on 304
Which gasket should I use on a amc 304 with a edelbrock performer intake?
Fel-Pro MS96011 - Valley pan gasket - $27 Mr Gasket MRG-5844 - Ultra-Seal intake manifold - $21 Mr Gasket MRG 800G - Standard intake gasket - $13 The valley pan gasket says "if your engine requires it"? I don't know if it requires it or not. _________ HomeBrewer 85CJ7 (in Progress) http://85cj7.blogspot.com/ 99XJ Sport Remove the xxx to reply! |
Re: intake on 304
If the manifold has a place for the Exhaust Gases Recirculation
valve then you'll need the valley pan to keep the oil from burning and turning to sludge against the exhaust cross over part of the manifold. I block off the cross over to keep the carburetor as cool as possible and to allow the headers to be tuned. Re: intake on 304
I don't have the EGR, so I should be ok with the regular gasket. Thanks for
the info. -- _____________________ HomeBrewer 85CJ7 (in Progress) http://85cj7.blogspot.com/ 99XJ Sport Remove the xxx to reply! |

Re: intake on 304
It turns out that the instructions it says "Remove tin pan from bottom of
stock manifold and reinstall on new manifold with drive pins supplied with kit." My problem is I'm installing on a new motor - I don't have an old manifold or the tin pan. I contacted edelbrock and they suggested I get one made or buy an intake on ebay...I just bought an intake from edelbrock and I can't even use it unless I have an old one to take parts from...it seems they would have mentioned that somewhere in the advertising or on the box. Not happy with edelbrock at the moment ..-- _____________________ HomeBrewer 85CJ7 (in Progress) http://85cj7.blogspot.com/ 99XJ Sport Remove the xxx to reply!
