Yeah, I think you pretty much need to give up on that "Trans Am red"
thing and call it what it is...orange. If it EVER used to be red and
faded to orange, that'd be the true meaning of a sun kissed orange.

I use paint by Sherman Williams, they have been able to match the
paint chip, where these guy at my local PPG Ditxler paint must be color
blind. I think red pigment is the most expensive, adding three hundred
dollars to the gallon, so I can see why they may be stingy

There were some orange Trans Ams too, maybe he got his supplies mixed
up. I had a friend with an orange one about that color. I think it was
even brighter orange than the link below:
