Anyone here tried a hotter coil
for thier 4.0 or for that matter
any other engine.
Feelings?
I'm thinking about increasing the gap
on my plugs and running a hotter coil.
Not quite up for the multispark conversion,
but who knows.

Hi Doug,
You'll need the larger distributor cap to prevent crossfire, as the
Ford and GM use with their sixty to seventy thousand volts.

I wonder about the MSD replacement coil #8228.
It's supposedly drop-in part same connector/bolt pattern.
Primary Resistance: 1.2 ohms
Secondary Resistance: 13.7K ohms
Maximum Voltage: 35,000 volts
Inductance: 8 mH
Turns Ratio: 70:1
That reads (resistance wise) like the factory Toyodenso coil
1.2 primary, 13.7 secondary but I don't have any reference
for what the stock coil puts out. Drawing from transformer
theory my guess is it's a damn close match.
... wow ..
Digital CPC (direct fire) systems too.
Heh.. ..mebby not..

I have the Accel SuperCoil in my 4.2.
It 'seemed' to give me some extra punch when I put it in.
