I can't take it anymore
 

Today, 01/03/08, I opened the newsgroup to 211 new messages. There were two
or three replies to the clutch issue where the OP says he installed a box
full of parts on a 4-banger CJ clutch, and the pedal does not work; a
spammer post from the GPS salesman; another spammer passing out bogus $5
bills; and 206 posts where the topic and discussion is, am to, am not, am
too, am not, etc. ad neasum.

TO BILL ------
Stop talking to these idiots. You are wasting time, energy, and space. They
have learned how to pull your crank, and you encourage them to pull it.

TO THE IDIOTS
Go pull your own crank, or sit in a circle ant take turns pulling each
other's crank, I really don't care.

No matter what Bill is, you are far more stupid. None of you guys ever,
that's E-V-E-R, have anything useful to say pursuant to any topic that is
posted. When somebody asks, why doesn't the clutch work? and your relpy is,
Bill is a jerk, then you are really not adding anything of value to the
discussion.

Looks like I gotta dust off the Killfile because it has become clear to me
that none of you are going to grow a brain anytime soon. It's sad really
that grown men can't figure out a way to ignore each other -- I fault Bill
the most on this point.

Speaking of ------ and the band of idiots who cross post (and include our
ng) and bastardize Billy - well, I've managed to eliminate most of that
noise as well with filtering. These clowns are as unf___ckingbelievable as
they are persistent.

Jeff,
You're absolutely right but you have the power to fix the problem. About
two months ago I learned about killfile/filter. I set up a rule on my
newsgroup reader that filtered out Bill ------ and a couple of others and
now I only see useful information. So far so good as none of the Bill ------
messages come through my reader and it has really cleaned up my inbox and
sanity.

This --- guy is a different story. He knows how to beat filtering by
changing the --- subject line and my inbox is flooded with his psychotic
babble. I only hope Bill doesn't try this, otherwise this group will surely
be lost.

fwiw, you can nuke most if the --- krap by creating a filter where
subject begins with M and with lots of AND in it.
Don't know how it's done in Outaluck but with Thunderbird a filter would
look something like:
name="M_I_5"
enabled="yes"
type="4"
action="Mark read"
action="Delete"
condition="AND (subject,begins with,M) AND (subject,contains,I) AND
(subject,contains,5) AND (subject,contains,P)"

Set it to only mark read if you're worried you might miss a real post
that contains all these conditions. I don't, so I have it delete.

Just create a rule with your OE ................ as opposed to blocking the
sender. Just keep an observant eye out for commom terms/words in the subject
line - make a few rules if required .............. worked for me !!!!!

The irony is, the GSP (sic) post is the good one ... Well, the clutch post
is the best because it is on topic and not spam, but the GPS post while spam
is not a flamewar.

Bill set up an auto-reply, and these morons simply answer back. If Bill
would ignore them, 200 out of 205 posts would simply go away and we could go
back to calling Bill, Captain BesideThePoint. He has useful comments
sometimes, but is off-the-wall other times. I'll take the mix if I could get
the flame warriors to go away.
