You knock could have been a collapsed lifter.

Not odd at all if you spun a bearing and it reseated (temporarily).
Might also have been a valve lifter. An oil change will tell you a
fair amount - any metal in the oil is bad news but I think I would
stay close to the barn until I dropped the pan and looked, especially
if it repeats.
