OK -- the tube doesn't twist past the limits of the socket joints. Haven't
had a chance to jack it up and check for that movement yet. Things have
been rather nuts. I'll get to it this weekend for sure.

They are on a taper, just holding them together offers enough drag
to zip the nut on and torque it:
