Hit and run

Re: Hit and run
In some places like Alberta Canada, there is/was hit and run/uninsured
driver insurance as part of your plate registration. You need a police
report and report it to the government. Not many people knew about it
though, but I used it with success after a parking lot crunch.
The odds are good that the person will return at some date so if the
police report is already in, you can then just call and say you see a
wanted hit and run driver, come get them!
Then you should phone your insurance agent and ask them what the policy
is. Some cover hit and runs also with no penalty, some don't. Some
might even let you apply the money to an 'upgraded' bumper that is way
harder to damage....

Re: Hit and run
It's optional coverage from your private insurance company here in Colorado.
I think you are talking about an "upgraded" bumper that is more likely to
damage other vehicles. Heh, heh. Stock bumpers, like crush zones, are
designed to minimize personal injury while at the same time maximizing parts
sales and auto body shop receipts. I have to laugh at the plastic bumpers
on my Hondas, but your advice to "upgrade" the bumper is not politically
correct.

Very similar here in BC.
As well, if you are hit by someone and the Guv'mint (they basically run
the insurance industry here - the ICBC) can't determine the guilty party
or if they somehow find /you/ at fault, you can pay for the repair
yourself and it will not affect your rates.

As well, if you are hit by someone and the Guv'mint (they basically run
the insurance industry here - the ICBC) can't determine the guilty party
or if they somehow find /you/ at fault, you can pay for the repair
yourself and it will not affect your rates.
