herculine 98 TJ, question about rust...
Thinkin about Herculine for the inside of my TJ, pulled up the carpet and
there is some surface rust on the floor, pretty scattered and especially near the drain plugs...whats the best way to handle that? grind it off? is there a product good for neutralizing and protecting in one step? thanks for any help................ |
Re: herculine 98 TJ, question about rust...
Power wire brush, spray on rust converter, after it all dries, clean with
TSP, let dry, and then follow the directions on the can. You can get three coats out of one can. -- HarryS JAFGBR JAFTJO "Trailboss" <trailboss@optonline.net> wrote in message news:ORm0c.7390$by4.1508337@news4.srv.hcvlny.cv.ne t... > Thinkin about Herculine for the inside of my TJ, pulled up the carpet and > there is some surface rust on the floor, pretty scattered and especially > near the drain plugs...whats the best way to handle that? grind it off? is > there a product good for neutralizing and protecting in one step? thanks for > any help................ > > |

It comes in powdered and liquid concentrate form. You can readily get it at any Home Depot, Lowes, hardware store, etc. in the paint section. It's very cheap. It also works well for cleaning white, exterior house trim with mildew, dirt, etc. Regards, GK |

There are rust conversion coatings but you are really better off mechanically removing as much rust as is possible before resorting to one of them. In the interior of your Jeep, the best option is to grind it all off using a wire wheel mounted in an electric drill motor. The only truly effective rust eliminator is sandblasting, but blasting inside your TJ would cause you worse problems, so a good substitute is the wire wheel and then paint it with POR-15 in the areas where bare metal is exposed. No need to use the wire wheel or POR-15 in non-rusted areas where the paint is still good. ---------------------------------------------------- Del Rawlins- del@_kills_spammers_rawlinsbrothers.org Remove _kills_spammers_ to reply via email.
