Heater Parts question
I am replacing the tub on my '83 CJ7 and there is some electronics on the
heater ductwork that I do understand. Just above the vent by the passenger
floorboard there is a three wire plug that goes to a coil inside the
ductwork. Could someone tell me what this is or it's function? Thanks, Dan.

Re: Heater Parts question. Now CJ7 Fan change too.
That is the fan speed resistor block.
While you are in there you could convert the heater to a big GM blower
that will defrost 'all' the windows, literally cook your feet and allow
you to drive at -25 with no gloves, boots, ski pants or parka on. All
for about $25.00!
It puts out more on low than the stock one does on high and that is no
exaggeration. It will _even_ de-ice that little triangle in the center
of the windshield and the passenger mirror corner in a snow storm! I
haven't needed to use full defrost yet to do that either which means the
toes stay hot.

There are two blower motors some parts stores have on the shelf. The
cheap regular one and a premium one. You want the cheaper one which is
the one with the shorter shaft. The premium one has a shaft about 1/4"
too long for the Jeep. Best is to take your old motor with you just to
make sure.
You just need to make a slightly larger hole in the firewall to fit the
larger motor, everything else is a direct fit. The Jeep squirrel cage
fan fits right on. I used to have a link on an easy hole cut, but it
doesn't work anymore.
