VERY FAST RESPONSE from Emory:
"We are looking into this issue and are working to resolve it."
I wouldn't start piling on at this point... let's give Mr. Flanagan some
time.

Subj: Usenet abuse by an Emory email account user
Date: 12/3/03 8:04:52 PM Eastern Standard Time
From: MLMacchia

Hello,
I would like to inform you about an individual using an Emory.edu email account
that has been seriously violating the charter of the
rec.autos.makers.jeep+****** Usenet discussion group by excessive crossposting
(and thus probably violating charters of other groups) and engaging in and
often instigating off-topic discussions. This individual's contributions are,
in many cases, abusive and showing no regard for proper group decorum. By
posting presumably from Emory's network and on Emory's time, he has cast a poor
reflection upon Emory University.
The individual has identified himself as Professor Lloyd Parker, using, at
various times, the email addresses lparker@emory.edu,
lparker@larry.cc.emory.edu, lparker@NOSPAMemory.edu, and
lparker@NOSPAM.emory.edu, sometimes posting as Lloyd Parker, sometimes as Lloyd
R. Parker.
According to Google.com, he made approximately 57,500 posts using the name
Lloyd Parker:

Re: heard back from emory
I don't think that will help much if at all. It will annoy the 'abuse'
people though, who you want on YOUR side to encourage THEIR
administration to do something. If you **** the computer geeks off with
tons of email they are likely to be less motivated to get involved in
solving the problem. If Emory works anything like Rutgers it only takes
ONE complaint to cause disiplinary action to start.
Fact is though- there is probably very little they can really do to him.
They'll ask him to stop, but if he doesn't then an official disiplinary
procedure could take weeks or even months (if he has tenure maybe years).
I run the usenet server at Rutgers and as such see some number of
complaints like this. Other schools' staff I know operate the same way
that we do; I expect Emory is similar too.

people though, who you want on YOUR side to encourage THEIR
administration to do something.
