Hard Top Removal questions
How easy is it to remove the hardtop on an '02 TJ? Mainly, how heavy is the
hard top, I realize there's just 6 Torx bolts, and windshield clips, but is
it liftable by one person, etc. I'm the proud new owner of the '02 TJ Sport,
has dual tops, and I'd like to take hard top off for rest of summer. Thanks
for any input.

Two adults can easily remove it. It weighs about 150 pounds, give or take
....
Call your brother to come over, and buy him a beer. My daughter and wife
help me get mine off.

Re: Hard Top Removal questions
LOL! Thanks for the advice, what do you usually store it on, I mean do the
seals deteriorate when stored? Thanks.

Re: Hard Top Removal questions
what seals?
if you are thinking of the old sticky foam seals, I dont know that they are on them
anymore. At least my 98 doesnt have any. The windsheild seal should be cleaned
before putting the top back on the Jeep (dirt or sand = leak), I usually hit it with
some 303 protectant on both the windsheild 1.2 and the top 1/2.
Mine gets stored on a ratty piece of plywood with 2x4's under it, that are set up
with a hoist and pulled up to the rafters of the shop each year. I cover the top
with some plastic to keep the birds and the mice off of it. It does fine up there
from April to Nov when its not on the TJ.

Re: Hard Top Removal questions
It's a "new" to me Jeep, 28K '02, had the soft op still in it, or put back
in to sell at dealer. Definitely going to take 1 of the 2 off. Thanks for
all the input.
