Grand Wagoneer Roof Console
Any idea how to remove the Centre Roof Console from a '91 Grand Wagoneer ?
It has 4 lights in in (2 in the front and 2 in the back) and I want to change the bulbs / inspect the wiring. Dave Milne, Scotland |

Hi Dave,
On all the cars I've worked on, the plastic lens flexed enough with the prying of a knife to pop out. Re: Grand Wagoneer Roof Console
Dave:
To remove the map light lenses to change the bulbs, make a hook in a heavy gauge paper clip and put it in the hole in the rear of the lens. Pull down and the lens should release. To reinstall place the front tab on the lens into the corresponding slot then push the back up until it snaps into place. To remove the whole console: There is a hidden phillips head screw in the midline of the console and about 2 inches in fromt of the compass/thermometer towards the front of the Jeep. You can feel the indentation with your fingers and there will probably be a subtle defect in the cloth covering of that part of the console. If not, you must discreetly puncture the material to insert the screwdriver. Insert a screwdriver and loosen the screw completely. Then open the sunglasses compartment and loosen that screw. Then slide the whole console to the rear to disengage the bracket and it will be free. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors and you're done!!
