Re: Grand Wagoneer '84 Maroon - worth $3k?
I hope it is a sweet one!
I always try to play the devils advocate if someone else hasn't just so
someone is aware of potential troubles...
I would say if it shifts nice between all the gears, then it isn't
likely a 'problem' t-case.

Hi Jay,
If you do have the NP 229 with the limited-slip viscous-coupled
differential in the transfer, the newer NP 228 and 219, are
interchangeable: http://www.rubicon4x4.com/transfercases/

Hmmm... I plan on going through all the gear/drivetrain combos
tomorrow to feel if they're operating smoothly, but is there anything
else I can do to see if all is well? At a thousand bucks a pop for a
229 I *really* don't want to have to replace it within the first year
or so.

Re: Grand Wagoneer '84 Maroon - worth $3k?
I just bought a 87 for $ 975.00 from the seconf owner...immaculate on
inside 1 small rust hole on rocker paint faded on hood and roof only so I
had maaco do a cheesy job just on the hood (the roof wasnt too bad) & the
sides buffed out like new...the wood is in excellent shape but there are
quite a few oil leaks..I have a buddy of mine fixing them right now but I
would say looks wise it is an 8 I bought it too keep it for a while but if
someone comes on my carlot and has to have it it will be gone!!! Good luck
