Gas problem?

Gas problem?
I'm looking to buy a 81 cj7. It's all original and the engine, carb and smog
controls are stock. The owner says it won't start after sitting for more
than 2 days. It will start and run good if you prime the carb with gas. What
should I look for to try and fix this problem?

Re: Gas problem?
Likely you just have to put the gas filter in right side up.
When it is upside down all the gas syphons back to the gas tank when it
sits for a while.
The filter has two outlets. The center one goes to the carb and the top
one goes to the return line. Just make sure the return is up top.
If it is already up top, then look for a pinhole leak in the gas line
between the pump and tank. Usually at the rear where the rubber tube
starts... It is a suction line so won't leak much, but it will let air
in when it sits.
