Re: Heater core bypass valve broke Was: Flushing the cooling system?
If you don't feel like replacing the valve, know that you could let
it flow all the time and be just like the newer cars. Or you buy a hand
operated valve for it to make sure you car is not heated in the summer:

It could get a bit warm.
One of my coworkers build a similar system out of two brass valves
for his old pickup.

Can't you get a ticket for flushing radiator coolant into the street now?

It is a hazardous waste. I watch it because we can't keep the
neighborhood domestic animals from drinking it and dying a horrible
death, I turn it in with my paint waste, run by my local trash company.
I used to dump it in with my oil at Kragen's, just to get rid of it. Not
telling them of course. They used to pump it for free, and pay me twenty
cents a gallon.
