Not on the outside. Spend a few minites and open it up. Any rust means all
bearings are shot.

Water is obvious when you open the drain. If the oil is clean, no
worries.

If you are talking about a vehicle caught in a flood, like in a
hurricane, then it will be filled with silt, too. Take it a part even if
it's just water as it mixes with oil and sticks to the sides and will
not drain: http://www.----------.com/temp/water.jpg If the water has
been sitting in there a year, it's junk!
