First Topless Drive of the Season!!

Today, the first warm day of the year in SE Michigan, I had a
wonderful topless drive home for lunch and back.. I forgot how much I
love driving my Jeep sans top. It's such a difference from being
trapped inside a plastic box all winter.. It feels so open and free.
It's a night and day difference, it's almost like a completely
different vehicle. There's something to be said about tunes blasting
and the wind in your hair .. It's 70 degrees, no clouds, absolutely
beautiful!

I'm not sure about the weather in other normally-cold regions, but did
anyone else take their rides out for a topless drive today?

it's warm enough here, but I need new shocks all the way around. So
she's hanging out in the garage for a few more days until my buddy comes
up with the discount code for 4wd Hardware.

I did get some work done on the XJ yesterday, so that was nice.

Shocks schmocks. I once drove my YJ 25 miles with no shocks, track bars, or
sway bars. It was definately a bouncy ride!

Re: First Topless Drive of the Season!!

Hilariously enough, that's exactly how it's sitting right now. I drove
it a couple days to work (15 mi each way) - it was actually a lot of
fun, but I just don't want to screw anything up. It's amazing the
difference in ride from my old rear shocks which didn't do anything but
make the ride ridiculously harsh.
Oh yeah, then I had an issue with the front axle disconnect coming
unplugged, which connected the axle, which made me think I had seriously
messed up my steering system somehow - that was fun.
So I'll just wait another week or so for shocks.

Re: First Topless Drive of the Season!!

You wont break anything running without shocks or with really bad shocks on
a leaf spring suspension. However, running w/o shocks may void insurance
claims.

eh, maybe I'm just being paranoid.
It's also just been way too cold as of late, considering I haven't had
the full top on since sometime in January.

I may be heading over to the east coast here in a 3-4 weeks or so, is it
still that cold over there? Hows your new YJ?
