On the same topic: how do you test a clutch fan on a static vehicle (ie
boneyard) ?

You really can't. The viscous clutch should spin "somewhat" freely
when cold but resist motion when hot.

On that subject, if it's like my ZJ then you just take the four bolts
out that are holding it to the water pump. Might have to remove the
belt first. On my ZJ the fan and shroud have to come out as one.
p.s. put a piece of cardboard between the fan and radiator to protect
the fragile fins from getting damaged.

You really can't. The viscous clutch should spin "somewhat" freely
when cold but resist motion when hot.
