Jim, driving in 4th gear at speed in 4Lo is REALLY REALLY REALLY bad for the
gears inside the transfer case. That whining you hear are the gears
spinning way faster than they were ever designed for.

I can't give an exact speed but if conditions are good enough that you can
drive faster than 2nd gear in 4Lo, I'd shift out of 4Lo. When the t-case
gears start whining loudly, it's time to get out of 4Lo. :)

Re: Even Rubicons get stuck
I can't give an exact speed but if conditions are good enough that you can
drive faster than 2nd gear in 4Lo, I'd shift out of 4Lo. When the t-case
gears start whining loudly, it's time to get out of 4Lo. :)
