Engine block reference number
Does anyone have a reference number chart that I can look up when my engine
should have been made or know how I can find out the year or year range?
I have a number 012005 on the side of my block below and between #3 and #2
cylinders.
Thanks,
Bill

Correction: That's 012C05
I also found this in another post. The poster said this:
From 73-86 258's.
1st diget is the year but it doesn't translate directly:
7- 1974
8- 1975
9- 1976
1- 1977
2- 1978
3- 1979
0- 1980
etc....
0=1980
12=Nov
C=2v carb
05=day of the month built
Not sure if this is right though. If it is then that means the previous
owner put an older engine than the year of the jeep.
83 CJ7 with a year 80 Engine. :-(
Could the 0 could mean 1990 year?
Thanks,
Bill
