Depends on how you drive. Personally, I'd go take a look and see if there
are zerks up there and give the wheels a shake to make sure everything is
tight.

Not to worry, Daimler is still using 1972 AMC Designed Dana 30 on
their Cherokees. Dodge Durango is using independent front suspencsion:

I should know better but... What's your opinion of using the needle
tips to insert grease thru the boot in those cases where there is no
plug for a zerk in an existing ball joint. I don't think I've seen
any Xj or MJ frontends with a zerk for the lower ball joint although
I'm not sure I want one in permanantly to keep knocking off on rocks
and stumps.

I consider the ball joint boot, just a dust cover, any lube there
has already exited the joint, and I wouldn't risk starting a tear in it.
