The second easiest thing would be to tap your switch (and fuse) across
the socket for fuse 4. Far easier is to just pull #4. This fuse is
explicitly to disable dome lights when the doors are removed. What is so
hard about it that would make you want to go to the work and expense of
adding a special switch?
Jeep has got you covered on this one, and it's not rocket surgery to pop
a fuse out in the spring when the soft top goes on.

Re: Dome lights
When you pull that fuse, does it also disable the headlight switch for
the dome light?

Re: Dome lights
No, it should not, not on my '00...the '06 uses a stalk-mounted headlight
switch, '00 uses a Real Switch on the dash.

Re: Dome lights
Why would you NOT want to pull the fuse?
Since you know there IS is a fuse, why not build a simple harness that plugs
into the fuse holder and goes to a switch that you mount in a convenient
spot, then back to the fuse holder. Your new harness should have a fuse
holder in line.
Now, you have an easy switch to flip that does the same thing as pulling the
fuse, and leaves the vehicle in its normal condition so that all other
circuits and stuff related to the doors works the same way. When you put the
doors back on, simply flip the switch and return the fuse to the circuit. I
suggest putting the switch in the glove box, or behind the glove box in a
region near the fuse box. Then, you can take the doors off or put them back
on, open the glove box and flip a switch.
