DIY Painting a TJ, or not DIY painting a TJ

Re: DIY Painting a TJ, or not DIY painting a TJ
Tractor paint is like a secret. It's a high quality paint that's half
price or less than the regular automotive product of the same
type...the catch is that the color choices are limited.
There are actually two John Deere greens, the older classic one which
is a darker one, that was in fact often used as British Racing Green
by Brit road racers and American MG and Triumph car owners for years,
and the modern lighter one. They are compatible paints meaning they
can be mixed for color adjustment if you want something in between.
There is one ag yellow and I'm told it's compatible, should you want
the resulting color, and a construction equipment yellow on which I'm
not sure. There is also, a third green which is for the outsourced
Sabre line of lawn equipment. My guess is it's not compatible, but
it's a nice color.
International Harvester has red. The old Ford stuff was blue but I
don't think it's an auto grade formulation:it's closer to Rustoleum.
The above is the actual stuff sold by JD and International dealers,
NOT third party products sold at farm-supply places. These are
definitely NOT auto grade: they're better for barns and rusty farm
junk.
