NOW changing fluid....WAS Differential Gasket???
Does anyone successfully use those oil extractors instead of removing the
covers all of the time?
Currently dealing with 4 Jeeps and I don't relish always having to remove
and install the diff covers. :-)
thanks,
dave

Re: Differential Gasket???
Guy's I just used a couple small dab's of High Tack to hold gasket and put
the gasket in dry. I figure once I get it too torque spec. average 20 ft.
lbs. I'll be good to go. I found my note book I keep and that's what I did
with the rear last fall. No Leaks.

Re: Differential Gasket???
Hi Paul,
I use to use that suction can, poor customers. Think of removing
the cover as a way to inspect for metal shaving or pits in the teeth
that may be leading to failure. Oh and Real Jeeps have drain plugs:

Re: NOW changing fluid....WAS Differential Gasket???
Not me anyway... I tried it once, and from what I could tell, it only
removed about 75% of the oil. I finally said screw it, and have
removed the diff cover ever since hehehehe. Pain in the ***, but job
done right.
