Detuned 4.0L ?????
Hello Group
After reading from one of Bills links I came across
a statement that the 4.0L engine is detuned for the Wrangler
http://www.omencity.com/thetedster/j.../earlyjeep.htm
Is this true?
Is this also true for a 01TJ?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Frank

Re: Detuned 4.0L ?????
Hi Frank,
I don't think the vortex in the air box will make a nickel's worth
of difference, just screw up the engine positive crankcase ventilation
if you take it out:
http://web.archive.org/web/200306201.../jeepmods.html
Of course, all engines are radically detuned for the sixties
muscles car's ten to one compression, and over three hundred degree cam
duration, to comply with the SMOG *****.

Nope, it's bull. My ZJ has the same "restrictor plate"
which actually is a venturi used to provide vacuum to the
evaporative canister. Without that doodad your canister
will cement up and performance will really go down.

Nope, it's still bull, just a different texture.
