Computer question
Someone I know may have fried their computer while welding. They tested all
of the circuits by disconnecting the negative battery cable and hooking a
test light to see if there is a short but couldn't find one. Is there a way
to test the computer easily? The jeep won't hold a charge and the battery
seems ok when charged. The alternator has been replaced. Is there
somewhere else they should be checking?

this is _extremely_ rare and often misdiagnosed. electricity follows the
shortest path to ground making it _almost_ impossible (i did say "almost")
to actually fry the computer from welding. welding close to the computer
however, can cause enough of a magnetic field to disrupt things.

have you actually taken the battery down to your autoparts store to have it
tested? ive had several batteries "seem" to hold a charge yet they couldnt
pull the load of cranking the vehicle. sounds like either a battery issue
or a loose connection at the starter/battery.
