Cherry Bomb on a YJ
Hi all,
Looks like my muffler is about shot, so I figure I'll replace it before it
falls off. I was thinking about putting on a cherry bomb, since they are
cheap, sound nice and look at though they wouldn't get hung up on too much
on the trail. Can anyone tell me a little bit about the muffler and/or the
install? I believe the exhaust for the 4.0L is 2.25"; is there a 2.25 inch
cherry bomb available? What about the length: I've heard that there are
different lengths, and given overall shortness of a YJ I wonder if I have to
take this into consideration.
Thanks for any help,
RAC

CBs are glasspacks, had them on the old truck. All I can say for sure is
expect a lot more noise and I prefer the Gibson.

Re: Cherry Bomb on a YJ
Have you thought of asking a muffler guy these questions?
YOu probably have a 2" system, not a 2.25". Yes, bombs come in different
lenghts, but they are not very quiet, even if you get the longest one. I
have a muffler that fits very high above the frame rails. I have managed to
scrape it some, but I would never suggest that it would get hung up enough
to stop me. If the muffler can hold you up, you have some pretty serious
issues that need to be resolved.
Get a low restriction muffler that is also quiet. You will be happier in the
long run.
