Modern computer-controlled automatics don't waste nearly as much power at
the rear wheels as in the past. Still, it tends to further isolate the
driver from the road.

Most Vette owners buy the cars because of it's image, not because they
really want to drive the cars like real sports cars, and automatics fit
those kinds of folks better.

It's actually kind of a shame, from everything I've read modern
Corvettes are amazing cars, I doubt most of the owners have even a
remote clue about what their cars are capable of.

Although... I guess the same thing could be said of most Jeep owners,
although obviously not the kind of Jeepers that hang out in this newsgroup!

It's actually kind of a shame, from everything I've read modern
Corvettes are amazing cars, I doubt most of the owners have even a
remote clue about what their cars are capable of.

Although... I guess the same thing could be said of most Jeep owners,
although obviously not the kind of Jeepers that hang out in this newsgroup!

Most Vette owners buy the cars because of it's image, not because they
really want to drive the cars like real sports cars, and automatics fit
those kinds of folks better.

I used to commute to California's Bay Area in my Cobra, it was always fun
coming home but when you drive a clutch it's just second nature.
I'm looking back and I'll guess that 90% of my rigs have been standards.
I made my daughters learn to drive in a standard, now they won't drive
anything else.
