How long ago was it? If it was just recently they might have fogotten to connect the rear O2 sensor back. -- DougW |

Re: catalytic converter recall otice 1997 jeep wrangler
I got a recall notice for my 96 Cherokee, they wanted to flash the
computer and would replace the cat if it was rattling. The problem was that the computer wouldn't pick up a failing cat. Well my cat DID rattle, but it stopped about 200,000 miles ago, and I figured the stuff had fallen out of it, but the check engine light never came on. OK, so I probably have a bad cat and the computer didn't know it. If I'd taken it into the dealer they would have "fixed" the computer but would not have replaced the cat because it didn't rattle. So I would have driven in the dealership in a good, healthy Jeep and driven out with the check engine light on. Needless to say I did not take it in! I hope you didn't get caught in that, if you did you probably need a new cat, if they really did plug the downstream O2 sensor back in. Re: catalytic converter recall otice 1997 jeep wrangler
If it's on the recall, it should be replaced.
Tell them you want the old cat, I hear they can be worth up to $100 Kate "bspear78" <bspear78@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1168821217.680621.16330@51g2000cwl.googlegrou ps.com... >I brought my 97 wrangler TJ for a cat recall notice the dealer said it > was ok, but now I am gettin a check engine light indicating a bad cat. > will the dealer replace my cat. converter for me?? do they have to > under the recall notice?? > |
