He might be able to put a thin screwdriver > under the nut and twist to lift the nut as he tries to turn it. I'd save the effort and put a nutbuster or angle grinder on it. Usually when those strip there isn't any good thread left to grab onto. You can drop the whole bar and work on it inside. Much easier and it lets you clean up and inspect the bushings. -- DougW |

To drop the whole bar I'd have to disconnect the other end - plus there's tons of room in there for a hacksaw blade, I'll weigh my options. Bolts tend to be tough for a hacksaw because they are tempered steel or whatever. I don't have a grinder but my neighbor does. As far as working inside - its an indoor garage so I'm set as far as cold and time is concerned. Going to buy a torx 55 at lunch today to hold the bottom bolt steady. It was turning last night and the biggest torx i have is 40. I'll let u know what transpires. |
