The Perkins 192 Diesel was a factory option on the CJ-5 and CJ-6 between '61
and '65. Jeep records show 152 of these produced in 1961. The target market
was mining and forestry operations where Diesel was the common fuel on site.
Of course there's also the Cerlist Diesel that was used in M676-M679
military FCs, but those are so ugly that I'm not sure they can be called
Jeeps. http://jeepfc.www5.50megs.com/m67x/fcmil.htm In any case, even if you
discount European XJs, there ARE American Diesel Jeeps.

I meant to say that Bill contributes an enormous amount of BULL. An
