Re: Battery question

I just bought a decent new regular one for the Cherokee and took the
Optima out of it to replace the dead one in the CJ7.

I 'only' bought these Optima's because the Jeep shop point blank lied to
me and told me they had a lifetime warranty.

I asked about the paperwork and he said, 'ah no worries if it ever dies
just bring it back for a free new one'. Ya right....

I also believed him when he said his air gun was 'just right' for
tightening down the replacement pinion he put in. The now shattered
bearings just came out in pieces a couple days ago.

As a note... Parts Source <==> Canadian Tire. Same company, same
lack of quality auto parts. I can't even begin to tell you how often
their computers list the wrong parts -- or the parts themselves simply
do not fit, or don't even meet let alone exceed the original OEM
specifications. Be very very wary about purchasing any automotive
parts from them that could result in you walking.

And if you plan on putting a winch on your Jeep DON'T put one of their
batteries in your Jeep.. I had not one but two fail as a direct result
of normal winch use, one just cracked and leaked, the other exploded
and left one hell of a mess under the hood... The one that exploded
was only a few weeks old and did so when I spooled out a few feet of
cable with no load on it..there is simply no reason why it should have
failed like it did.
