Re: Axle & Wheel Bearings YJ
My mistake was in not being patient enough to wait for the right one. Two
weeks after I bought mine I ran into someone who had just bought a
mid-seventies Suburban in decent shape with three quarter ton suspension and
standard transmission.

My g/f comes from Isaan province originally, but they moved to the UK where
I met her. She has British citizenship, so we should be able to live where
we like and return when we like. I'll need to make my money here first, as
the jobs over there are pitiful.. I know plenty of Thai postgrad students
who are working for a couple of bucks an hour..

Moot in Bangkok, but until just recently non-Thais or even
Thai women married to non-Thai were limited to 1 Rai of land
with limit on inheritability.

That's what I thought. I was just wondering. I used to work who was an
HK citizen and had a Thai GF. He took an early package and bought a house
by the beach in Thailand. Of course having a Thai girl friend who knows
her way around is a plus. Thailand is a lot of fun. I can see owning a
Jeep there. Watch out for the elephants and their handlers. :)

Don't remember when it changed, it wasn't that recently, as
the info came from someone who moved there with their Thai
wife for retirement. The part that changed is just the amount
of land that a non-Thai male could own even if married to
a Thai. Reason for the older limit was that if the a Thai
woman dies, everything belongs to the husband and that could
result in the transfer of thai land to a foreigner... aka farang.
Small lots, to my knowledge, have never been affected, although
as a non-Thai citizen one would still have to leave the country
periodically. No biggie, organized tours for this even, seems
to be a thriving business.
