Anyone ever changed an XJ evaporator core?

Re: Anyone ever changed an XJ evaporator core?
It's actually the air conditioning (evaporator) core that is near the
heater core inside the housing under the dash. You literally have to
tear the dash, steering column, etc. out of the car to get to it. I
wouldn't begin to attempt it. When we had the one changed (under
warranty) on our ZJ, the bill came to right at $1,000, and that was 10
years ago. Sure glad I didn't have to pay for it (or do it.)

Re: Anyone ever changed an XJ evaporator core?
Get the OEM factory manual and you can do it. It does look like a bomb went
off in driveway though. 1.5 days for me and works perfect. Consult with air
conditioning websites , I think I ordered mine through Arizona air or
Florida air online. You have to change a few other things also like filter/
drier and the 'o' rings.I had a vacuum pump otherwise you will have to add
needed oil and freon. The book tells you how much oil to add for different
components replaced.
Good Luck
