Anybody using an iPod yet?

Just curious if anyone is using an iPod and the FM transmitter to play music
in their jeeps? I'm thinking I want something along the lines of an iPod
instead of satellite radio. Then I can take it and play it in any vehicle
using the FM transmitter. Then I can put a cheaper head unit in my CJ as
well.

Downloading all my CD's to it would be great, also downloading MP3's. I
mean WOW.... 10,000 songs! Even if a CD averages 15 songs, you could get
over 650 cd's on it.

Anybody bought one yet?

Re: Anybody using an iPod yet?

Yeah they are nice. I have a 40 gig model I just bought and i'm working on
loading it up with tunes now. Haven't got the FM transmitter yet but I hear
the best one it the iTrip from Griffin. They are about $30 from CompUSA and
other places.

If you want to try and get a free iPod, try this place:
http://tinyurl.com/4b6e9 Just make sure you sign up with a Yahoo or Hotmail
email, they will spam the ---- out of you. Most people recommend the
Ancestry.com offer, since it involves no money and they have a toll free
number to cancel the service. I got my girlfriend to do that one. It is
legit, a bunch of people at flyertalk.com's forums did a 'conga line' on
this site and a bunch of people got their iPods. I need one more person to
get my free 20gig model, which I will turn around and sell to help pay for
the 40g one I bought.

I'll knock $99.99 of retail for someone on RAMJ+W if you want to be the last
referral for me. That's $200 for a 20gig iPod instead of $299.99. Othewise
it's going on greedBay for $250 buy it now.

And then the damned thing could get stolen, run over or simply
malfunction. I much perfer removable, seperate media, as you don't have
all your eggs in one basket.

Re: Anybody using an iPod yet?

I have one. 15gb 3rd gen. Having used other hdd players, I can safely say
there's a reason Apples player is the most popular.

I use an adapter which turns the CD changer input in the back back of my
stock 2003 head unit into an aux input. Cost $70, sounds and works WAY
better than any FM transmission ever will (trust me, I've tried it).

http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piechry02aux.html

That's the one I bought. I'm never going back to FM of any kind.
