Another XJ question
How do you know if your 4WD is engaging? Recently acquired 92 XJ Laredo 4.0L
automatic with CommandTrac (166000mi). Partime light on dash comes on, but I
don't feel or hear any gears or linkage moving when I move the lever from
2WD to 4 HI. It hasn't snowed or gotten icy yet, so I don't want to drive it
in 4WD on dry pavement.

Re: Another XJ question
It's quiet. Jack up one side of the car and check if you can rotate the
front wheel.

Re: Another XJ question
Find some real loose gravel ... stop ... floor it for a second ... and
you'll know. A front wheel and a back wheel will have thrown gravel.

Re: Another XJ question
Make a sharp turn going real slow, you will hear wheel hop.
