AMC 360 in YJ......Carb & Timing worked out

Well, after several trial, errors and thinking some things out, Im
very close to tweaking, if not already there......I hope. So heres
the set up:
AMC 360 with performer intake, 4160 Holley and HEI ignition.
The Holley had to be set up like this: main jets #62, with #31 pump
dicharge nozzle.
The timing was critical at times and fun to play with matching the
ignition
but this is where replacing the spring in the mechanical advance made
the
motor really come alive....Mr. Gasket part number 925D. replaced only
1
spring (left the OEM spring on the other side) and the performance
was
greatly improved. Now the 360 is performing great..........but will
watch it
closely to see if this holds........

Just curious: was the new spring a lot weaker than the spring you took out?
(This would give you a faster RATE of advance which could improve your
low-end torque.)
Another trick is to block off part of the total advance slot and then set up
the initial timing.

Sounds like you got it sorted out. Glad to hear it.
