Air Vent Intake Scoop
Can anyone tell me if this is worth the money or just another piece of crap
that doesn't really do anything? And if it does work which way should it be
installed I have seen some jeeps with the opening to the front and I've seen
some with the opening toward the windshield.

Re: Air Vent Intake Scoop
The only reason for a hood scoop on a Jeep is if you've run out of
room under it. Street rods will get a few more ponies from the cooler
entering from the front or facing rear for compressed air at speed.

Bill, he was asking about scoops for the air vent, not scoops for the intake.
To answer his question - they will mount either way. Some like to mount them
with the opening to the rear to prevent junk/low flying birds from getting into
the air vent, and to take advantage of the laminar air flow over the hood and
up the windshield that creates a high pressure area at the base of the
windshield. Personally, I don't think it matters which way you mount one on a
jeep, and I'm not persuaded that they provide any benefit other than "looks.".

Re: Air Vent Intake Scoop
The idea is to keep water out of the vent system. If you leave the Jeep out
in the rain often then you might want one of these, mine stays in the garage
so I don't have one. It would make sense to me to mount it with the opening
toward the windshield so that you don't scoop up the rain while moving.
