aftermarket ignition modules w/ D.U.I. (HEI)
In considering ignition options for the 4.2L Jeep engine, can you
provide information regarding aftermarket ignition modules suitable for
use with the Davis Unified Ignition / HEI distributors. From what I've
read, I really like the D.U.I. HEI distributors but am also interested
in the Jacobs products designed for standard Jeep distributors. Has
anyone gotten these to work together?
I received a reply from MSD saying they do not have an HEI distributor
with ignition modules for this configuration.
Thank you.

The DUI HEI system is an integrated system. It includes a new distributor
with a high energy coil. The DUI system replaces your old distributor, coil,
and ignition module. You need no other components except good plug wires.
The DUI system replaced the Jacobs high energy system I had before. With the
Jacobs system, there was frequent crossfiring despite cleaning the old cap,
replacing the cap, etc. The voltage was just too high for the spacing
between the contacts in the distributor cap.
I consider the DUI system one of the best mods I have made to my CJ7.
