98 ZJ 5.9 Limited, idle observation
i just picked up after months of looking for a good low miles one, a 98 ZJ
5.9 Limited. notice that when in park, idle is around 800 rpm, if you blip
the throttle it will hold at about 1200-1300 rpm, for a few minutes, then go
back down to normal. Any ideas why?

Not a clue.

Actually, they all do that to some extent. When it stays there or
has a hard time idling then it's time to clean the IAP (Idle Air Passage)
on the throttle body.

That's the 4.0 TB, but they are all the same.

It's Kalifornia SMOGed? It may be a part of the computer's
averaging, like they don't like it when you're continually taping the
accelerator, wasting gas as you travel down the road, so, if you've
noticed you have no engine braking, for many seconds, or until the
computer is sure you really do want to slow down.
