Re: 97 Cherokee - Fan keeps running after shut down
The temperature gauge will tell you if it is running hotter than normal, but
with a vehicle this old it certainly wouldn't hurt to retension or replace
the belts. Usually they will squeal when they start having problems, but
sometimes not. Sometimes they will just fall off.

Re: 97 Cherokee - Fan keeps running after shut down
The electric Fan on my 97 Cherokee only comes on when I turn the AC
on. I would look for a stuck relay. It's located in the fuse box
behind the battery. There are 4 relays unless you have ABS, then there
are 5. ASD, Fuel pump, Starter motor, and the cooling fan. They are
only about $7.00 from the dealer

Thanks to all you who suggested the stuck relay, that's exactly what
the problem was.
