95 XJ starting problem
The wife's XJ has experienced hard starting (5-6 cranks before reluctantly
firing up) on 2 occasions. Both occasions the Jeep was nose down, nothing
radical, just on a slight incline with the front axle about 4 inches lower
than the rear..... Any ideas?
thanks

Re: 95 XJ starting problem
Hi Paul,
One cause is if the check valve is bad and gasoline pressure bleeds
off and drains back to the tank. If you notice the fuel pump only runs
for a couple of second before automatically shutting off if the engine
doesn't start. So cycle the ignition key on and off several times to
repressurize the system.

Re: 95 XJ starting problem
Thanks Bill,
Are you saying just turn the key and not actually 'cranking' the engine? If
the check valve is bad would this be more prevalent in a 'nose down'
situation?
thanks
