Re: 89 Cherokee Blower only working on Hi-speed...
I think if you run the heater on recirculating air too long, it can
overheat the system, but you could have a good point about an old motor
starting to draw too much.
Our motor went that way and killed the switch. It melted it down.
Resistor pack stayed ok.

FYI, I also had to replace the blower within the past week. For a few
months before I owned the XJ, you would run the blower and could here a
bearing/grinding noise coming from the blower. Maybe this helped the
resistor pack to an early grave??

Very likely. As they wear out, they draw a lot of power and generate
heat in the lines.
