Come to think of it, I don't think the I6 will fit a pre 87 XJ. Firewall to
rad cradle is to short... you'd have more luck dropping in a small block
Chevy... hmmm....

You need to find out what tranny the 2.5 has. They did use the Borg
Warner T-5 in some early Cherokee's according to my book. This is the
'World Class' one they use in Mustang V-8's and the same one as in my 86
CJ7, so the age is right for it to have it. The so called 'weak'
trannies came later.
That setup would be worth finding a bell housing adapter for I would
think. You would likely have to fuss with driveshafts too, not sure but
that isn't too expensive.

Looks like I'll just have that one rebuilt.
I already use a 90 4.0 XJ to beat the snot out of on the weekends and I
have two others for parts.
And now this 2.5XJ will be sent to the parts section to be parted out.
Now if I can just keep from aquiring them and get the ones I have running!
