6 or 8 cylinders?
I'm interested in a 78 or 79 CJ7. Should I get the 6 cyl or the 304?
Obviously the 304 has more power but I'm wondering how much of a gas guzzler
it is versus the 6. Opinions?

How are you going to use the Jeep?
-Offroad exclusively?
-50/50?
-All street?
I'd say that unless there is a real reason to get a V8, you're more than
fine with an I6, and better off on the trails because of the superb low
torque qualities of the I6. Now, if you find a prime example of a CJ
with a V8, why hold back? We don't buy these things for mpg anyway. :)

Heh! Well, either one would suit your needs then. I've had four Jeeps
(1CJ, YJ, 2TJs with the I6, not counting two 6 cyl Cherokees, and never
been disappointed in any of them, performance-wise. V8s can be a hoot,
though too.
